Day 2: Vientiane – Lao Art Museum-Nam Ngum Lake- Vang Vieng (B.L.D)

We wake up early at 5:00am to participate in the daily morning alms-giving ritual to saffron-clad monks, a unique tradition that is a hallmark of Laos, the only Buddhist nation.

After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel, and we will embark on a sightseeing tour of Vientiane, visiting several significant religious sites. First, we will explore Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple to survive the Siamese war of 1828, which houses more than 8,000 Buddha statues in its cloister. Next, we will visit Wat Ho Prakeo, the former home temple of the Emerald Buddha statue (Pra Keo), which now displays a collection of Buddha statues, antiques, and artifacts found around Vientiane. Next, we will visit Wat Si Muang, one of the most revered temples in Vientiane. Known for its beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere, this temple is a significant spiritual site for locals.

We will also see That Luang Stupa, the symbol of the Lao nation and the most important monument in Laos, built to encase a small stupa containing a relic of the Buddha’s chest bone. Finally, we will stop at Patouxay (Arch de Triomphe), a relatively recent construction commemorating those who died in past wars, now serving as a landmark of Vientiane. Overnight in Vientiane.

After lunch we head out of town to visit the Lao Art Museum, which is about a 30-minute drive from the city. The Lao Art Museum in Vientiane officially opened on January 5, 2025, in Nonsa-at Village, Xaythany District. This new cultural landmark showcases Lao art and culture, evolving from a 2018 art exhibition and supported by the Lao government and the Vientiane Capital Administration. We’ll spend about 1.5 hrs in the museum because it’s the biggest arts museum in Southeast Asia.

And continue driving to Vang Vieng. We’ll arrive in the late afternoon and check into your hotel, giving you the rest of the day to relax and enjoy your leisure time. Overnight in Vang Vieng.

Day 3: Vang Vieng Explore (B.L.D)
